Week 3 Bengal's @ Steelers W 28-20
|
Game
Summary: In a wild game that featured eight turnovers, a blocked
FG, and three lead changes, the Bengal's went to 3-0 on the season
and dropped the defending Super Bowl champions to a 1-2 mark. The
Bengal's improved their record at Pittsburgh under Marvin Lewis to
3-1. The Bengal's struggled early, and were on the verge of a 14-0
deficit before FS Madieu Williams made the first of many big plays,
an end-zone INT on the first play of the second quarter. An ensuing
97- yard TD drive led to a dominant Cincinnati second quarter, and
the Bengal's led 14-7 at halftime. But Pittsburgh led 17-14 up to
midway in the fourth quarter, and the Steelers appeared in control
until the game’s most pivotal play — Cincinnati’s
Tony Stewart recovering a Pittsburgh muffed punt return at the Steelers
9-yard line. The Bengal's roared back to take a 28-17 lead with 7:05
to play, but
Pittsburgh scored a FG and forced a Bengal's punt. Then the Steelers
drove 73 yards to the Bengal's 16 before SS Kevin Kaesviharn —
at 0:10 — finally iced the game for Cincinnati with an end-zone
INT. Bengal's QB Carson Palmer tied his career high with 4 TD passes.
My Thoughts: Today the Cincinnati Bengal's made a statement.
Believe the hype, this Bengal's team is destined for the Super Bowl.
Coming into this game in Pittsburgh was the Bengal's chance to get
a little sweet revenge against the Steelers who beat them in the playoffs
at Cincinnati last year. It was Carson Palmer's chance to go get what
he has worked his tail off for in the off season, another shot against
the Steelers who he does not like. Remember, Carson Palmer on the
first play of last seasons wild card game was injured by former Bengal
Kimo Von Oelhoffen. Since that time Palmer has had this game against
the Steelers circled.
This time around, Carson and the Bengal's stayed healthy, focused,
and determined to remind the Steelers just who is the defending AFC
North Champions! Today the Bengal's earned their stripes, it is called
league wide respect. The Big Orange Machine is here, Carson Palmer
and company just labeled themselves with no doubt a Super Bowl contender.
Chad Johnson only 1 catch. Carson Palmer with 2 interceptions and
4 fumbles. Today the Bengal's did what great teams do, they found
a way to win. The Steelers gained more yards, lead in time of possession,
more rushing yards. At the end of the game though, the Bengal's had
more points and a 2 game lead over the Steelers in just week 2 of
this early 2006 NFL football season. Who Dey! |
