Week 2 Browns @ Bengal's W 34 - 17
|
Game
Summary: The Bengal's mounted touchdown drives of 75 and 92 yards
on their first two possessions, then held off the Browns the rest
of the way in a somewhat sloppy but successful home opener. The result
tied the “Battle of Ohio” series at 33 wins for each franchise.
The Browns did not reach the end zone until early in the fourth quarter,
when Reuben Droughns’ 1-yard run closed the gap to 20-10, but
the Bengal's responded with an 80-yard drive, capped by a 1-yard Rudi
Johnson TD run, to go ahead 27-10. LB Landon Johnson picked off a
Cleveland pass on the next Browns possession, setting up a 26-yard
drive that was capped by a 9-yard Johnson TD run. Johnson posted his
fourth straight game of 126 or more rushing yards against the Browns,
going for 145 on 26 carries. Bengal's QB Carson Palmer passed for
352 yards, the second-most of his career, while throwing for 2 TD's.
and 2 INT's. The Bengal's improved to 2-0 on the season, and the Browns
fell to 0-2.
My Thoughts: Looking over the Bengal's tough schedule this
season you think to yourself that at home against the Browns is a
automatic win. It was just that. TJ missed his second straight game.
Chris Henry eased the loss of TJ with his first career 100 receiving
yard game. Rudi Johnson was big when it came time to pound the football,
he rushed for 145 yd's and 2 TD's. Carson Palmer was Carson, 352 yards,
2 TD's., 2 INT's. Carson played like a pro bowler. So the Bengal's
did what they where suppose to do, but in the process lost 3 starters
due to injury. At this time I am uncertain on the status of any of
the injured players. I would be very surprised to see David Pollack
next week @ Pittsburgh. Looked like he really hurt his neck. Also
concerned about the health of Dexter Jackson, he sprained his ankle
pretty bad. Let's get healthy, big game on the road against the Steelers
in week 3, Who Dey.
