Pre
game Thoughts: Given their high preseason hopes, the 4-5
Bengal's are clearly a team in need of a winning streak. But New Orleans
is the only team on the schedule this week, and at 6-3, the Saints
provide plenty of reason to avoid thinking ahead.
"We're facing a level of adversity we may not have faced before,"
Bengal's coach Marvin Lewis conceded after last week's 49-41 loss
to San Diego, the club's fourth setback in five games. "But we
can still do what we set out to do when this season began."
The result put
a damper on what could have been an exultant Cincinnati offensive
day. WR Chad Johnson set a team record for receiving yards (260),
Carson Palmer passed for a career-high 440 yards, and the offense's
545 net yards was the team's most in 16 years.
"We lost,
so you can't really enjoy it right now," said Johnson. "But
we're going to dig out of this. Our offense is going to carry the
load. To play like we did today ... I just know we're not going
to go backward."
Outcome: Big time win, Who Dey! Bengal's could
not afford to loose this game, big win! Not
to mention Chad Johnson had another huge day. He actually set the
NFL record for most yards by a WR in a 2 game stretch with 460 yards
total. |
